Judgment, reasoning and decision making

Judgment, reasoning and decision making are the most complex processes carried out by human beings. Judgment is the cognitive capacity by means of which we elaborate ideas and reach conclusions that allow us to acquire knowledge. Reasoning is the faculty through which we solve problems, reach conclusions and learn consciously based on the facts, establishing causal and logical connections among those facts. Decision making is the process by means of which we choose a specific option to solve different situations in diverse contexts; in other words, it consists on selecting an option among those available, in order to figure out the solution to a current or potential problem. In this process, contextual information, our knowledge and previous experiences get articulated; the emotions and feelings that affect our judgment are also important in the process of decision making.
